Tijdens BATAFEST 2026 wordt zaal 2.8 op de tweede verdieping van het Batavierhuis omgetoverd tot CINEBATA, een gezellige kleine bioscoop waar korte films, animaties en documentaires van kunstenaars van het Batavierhuis worden vertoond. Gedurende het festival vinden er drie verschillende vertoningen plaats. De filmmakers zullen aanwezig zijn om hun werk te introduceren, een kijkje te geven in het filmproces en samen met het publiek deel te nemen aan een vraag-en-antwoordronde.
Het eerste CINEBATA-blok bestaat uit drie animatiefilms:
This Is Your Captain Speaking (14 min, 2026)
Wat zou jij doen als je kon vliegen? In haar wijk Rotterdam Delfshaven nodigde Nienke
haar buren, van alle leeftijden en achtergronden, uit om op deze vraag in te gaan. Hun antwoorden vormden de basis voor This Is Your Captain Speaking.

De Afvalligen/The Refusers (3 min, 2024)
Een stop-motionmusical van 2 minuten waarin afgedankt afval weigert als ‘vuilnis’ bestempeld te worden.

Flatastic (17 min, 2024)
Tot het uiterste gedreven komen de mantaroggen in opstand tegen de mens om de heerschappij over de aarde over te nemen; het is het begin van een nieuw tijdperk van de mantaroggen en de „afvlakking“ van de mensheid.

During BATAFEST 2026, room 2.8 on the second floor of Batavierhuis will transform into CINEBATA, a cozy little cinema showcasing short films, animations, and documentaries created by Batavierhuis artists. Across the festival, there will be three different screenings. The filmmakers will be present to introduce their work, share insights into the filmmaking process, and join the audience for a Q&A.

What would you do if you could fly? In her neighbourhood Rotterdam Delfshaven, Nienke
invited her neighbors, of all ages and backgrounds, to elaborate on this question. Their answers became the foundation for This Is Your Captain Speaking.
