Born in Hyogo, Japan and based in the Netherlands, Ken Kunita graduated cum laude from Codarts Rotterdam with a Bachelor’s degree in Bass Clarinet in 2016, followed by a Master’s degree in Clarinet in 2020.
He has performed at leading festivals and institutions including the Dutch National Opera and Gaudeamus International Music Week, and collaborated with ensembles such as the Netherlands National Youth Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mannheim Philharmonic Orchestra.
Highlights include performances at the Gergiev Festival with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under Valery Gergiev, featuring works by Richard Wagner, and participation in the world premiere of an oratorio by Sofia Gubaidulina.
Alongside his performing career, he contributed to music publishing through Muse Press LLC and has been a member of Batavierhuis since 2020. He also holds an MBA and has worked in IT and operational project management within tech scale-ups since 2021, bridging the arts and technology.
Ken is currently working on establishing ArtNexus, a new initiative that leverages my background in classical music, tech scale-ups and business to empower artists and create new opportunities, using Batavierhuis as a launchpad.
