At Paradijskerk, the modular project of Duo Bottasso will unfolds its full potential as a ritual: an expanded cinema experience shaped by immersive sound, live music, light design and a timeless contemplative space.
Early 20th-century Italian archival films are projected across multiple screens, forming a fragmented yet unified landscape. These images – sometimes panoramic, sometimes intimate – were originally conceived as cinematic postcards: brief visual messages sent from a country in transformation. Here, they return not as nostalgia, but as presences and testimonies of a past that should never be forgotten.
The church itself becomes part of the composition. Sound moves through the space, surrounding the audience and shaping a shared listening experience in which time slows down and attention becomes collective. Viewers are invited to inhabit the images rather than observe them, suspended between past and present.
Italy emerges as memory and responsibility: landscapes shaped by labour, gestures marked by political choices, histories that continue to echo today.
Postcards from Italy is an invitation to gather, to listen, and to reflect – together – inside a space where memory is not explained, but felt.
