Born in 2002 in Warsaw Poland, Gustaw started his musical education in his hometown at the age of 6. After graduating high school, having studied with leading Polish cellists of the young generation (Marcin Zdunik, Magdalena Bojanowicz-Koziak), as well as well-established pedagogues (Andrzej Bauer) Gustaw went on to pursue his education at the Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum of the Augsburg University in 2020, where he’s worked under the guidance of Julius Berger, Hyun-Jung Berger and Edward King. His path lead him further to Düsseldorf and Pieter Wispelwey, who remains his teacher.
A laureate of Markneukirchen and Lutosławski competitions, Gustaw is also a keen chamber player, with the experience of chamber music festivals, as well as being part of a set quartet (Helene Quartet – 2022/2023), seeking to further develop his musicianship in the field of chamber music. Since 2024 he is based in Rotterdam, as he was granted an academy position in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2024/2025 season. Gustaw plays an instrument by Raffaelle Antonio Gagliano loaned by the Polish Luthier’s Society.
