Aleksandra Tonelli is an Argentinian pianist, composer and arranger based in Rotterdam. With an international career spanning Europe and Latin America, she has performed in renowned theatres and festivals including De Doelen, Grachtenfestival and the International Tango Festival of Buenos Aires.
Trained in classical piano, tango and composition, Aleksandra combines Argentinian tango and folklore with jazz, classical and contemporary influences. She is the bandleader and composer of Cocoliche Trio and Quinteto Irreal, performing original music that moves between tradition and experimentation. Her artistic work has received support and recognition from institutions in the Netherlands and Argentina.
Alongside her performing career, she works as a freelance pianist, composer and arranger for diverse ensembles, and teaches and coaches artistic research at CODARTS University of the Arts, while collaborating as an external expert with conservatories in Belgium and the Netherlands.
At the Batavierhuis, Aleksandra is currently working on the album production for Cocoliche Trio.
