This album proposes a unifying role of the Latin Guitar by melting Afro Cuban and Brazilian repertoire. In order to modernize the sound of the nylon string guitar, the double bass of Lautaro Vergara and drums of Enrico Locci are added. This trio plays in the borders of genres: the classical influence of the solo guitar pieces and bow-played double bass can be heard. The jazz influence of harmony, improvisation and theme-structured pieces as well. But this happens at the same time that the traditional rhythms and grooves are not only preserved and respected but are actually the starting-point of the project. This trio is a product of the multiculturality of Rotterdam, which sees the
opportunity to unify such rich cultural diversity through music.

Line-up:
Ivan Laranjeiro - Acoustic Guitar
Lautaro Vergara - Double Bass
Enrico Locci - Drums

A Portrayal of the Latin Guitar.

Bezetting:
Ivan Laranjeiro - Akoestische gitaar
Lautaro Vergara - Contrabas
Enrico Locci - Drums

The project explores how audience participation can shape story, music, and space, while reflecting on the power structures embedded in technology. Using their smartphones, participants make real-time decisions that directly influence the narrative, soundscape, and visual world, as a live opera singer performs the continuously evolving tale. By transforming abstract debates about AI and Big Tech into tangible, lived consequences, In The Ring invites audiences to confront a pressing question: who truly holds power in a world driven by technology? In this preview we will present the concept, share the key questions driving the project, and offer a short live demonstration of the work, which will have its premiere next year.

director - Robin Coops
digital storyteller, creative technologist - Eric Magnée
social designer - Thyrza Coenraad
singer - Katharine Dain

Tickets are free but please make a reservation

—

On June 4 in Rotterdam, clarinetist Oran Etkin from New York is joined by Dutch pianist Rembrandt Frerichs and Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Juliano Abramovay (oud, guitar) for an evening shaped in real time.

The collaboration draws on Etkin’s Open Arms Project, an album developed through creating music with master musicians around the world—from Zimbabwe to Turkey to the Czech Republic—where each encounter becomes a starting point for co-creation. Bringing that spirit to the stage, the trio weaves together original compositions and improvisations, letting their different musical languages shape a shared, evolving conversation—a rare convergence of distinct voices grounded in listening, trust, and the possibility of something unexpected.

About Oran:
Heartwarming” - Herbie Hancock
“Ebullient” - NY Times
“This is world music in the true sense, not a lazy hybrid but a personal sound born out of deep respect for diverse musical tradition” - Irish Times
“A woodwind-playing visionary whose wonderful music strongly condemns any form of cultural imperialism, and for that very reason, its forces should be heard everywhere these days” - Jazz Podium (Germany)

Line up:
Oran Etkin: Clarinet, Saxophone
Rembrandt Frerichs: Piano
Juliano Abramovay: Oud, Guitar

Over Oran:
“Hartverwarmend” – Herbie Hancock
“Uitbundig” – NY Times

Together, they bring forward an evening shaped specifically for the church’s unique acoustic and architectural character. Four artists draw from diverse sonic traditions and experimental approaches, letting their work respond directly to the space itself. From acoustic resonance to sacred aesthetics, every element of the performances is attuned to its surroundings; blurring the lines between the visceral and the transcendental.

𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃

𝙍𝙊𝙏𝙊𝙍 - 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙤𝙣
Rotor is an experimental audiovisual project founded in 2017 by Rotterdam-based artists Eelco Ottenhof and Joris Strijbos. Each of these three musicians have their own musical background, which is, actually, also reflected in how the pieces have been arranged, and they are : Yvonni MELISSA from Kavala, Vasilis LEMONIAS from the bay of Volos and Kiriakos MANIAS from the island of Crete.

Yvonni Melissa: violin, vocals
Vasilis Lemonias: cello
Kiriakos Manias: lute, lavta, vocals
Laia Escartin: viola, vocals"
