Starting in September 2026, the Gitaarsalon will be coming to the Batavierhuis with a monthly concert series dedicated entirely to the guitar. For more than 25 years, the Gitaarsalon has been a household name in the Netherlands, featuring a massive Guitar Festival at the Zuiderzee Museum and two concert series in Enkhuizen.
Every last Sunday of the month (subject to change), you can enjoy a wonderful guitar concert in the afternoon at the Batavierhuis. Curious about what the guitar has to offer and who the up-and-coming talents are in the Dutch guitar scene? Then come by to listen and watch.
Alexander Preuß (Cologne, 1969) is a flamenco guitarist who combines traditional flamenco technique with a contemporary musical language. His intense and virtuosic playing is rooted in the Andalusian tradition. At the age of eleven, he began taking guitar lessons from Tomás Seda. During extended stays in Seville and Granada, he then immersed himself independently in flamenco and developed his own musical voice. In 1999, he turned that practical experience into a professional flamenco guitar program at Codarts Rotterdam under Paco Peña. He also studied in Seville with, among others, Niño de Pura and Miguel Ángel Cortés. Starting in 1994, he built an international concert career and performed throughout Europe, including at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, BoZar in Brussels, King’s Place in London, and at numerous international flamenco and guitar festivals.
Irene Álvarez is a flamenco dancer who uniquely blends tradition and innovation. Guided by a deep respect for the flamenco tradition, she explores the dialogue between cante and other musical and artistic disciplines, without losing sight of her roots. She began her training at the age of nine with the legendary Matilde Coral and at the Royal Conservatory of Music and Dance in Seville, where she earned her diploma in 1993. Her style is deeply rooted in the elegant Sevillian School and was further refined through lessons with renowned masters such as El Güito, Javier Latorre, José Galván, and Isabel Bayón. Since 2002, Irene has built an international career. After settling in Belgium, she has performed at leading theaters and festivals throughout Europe, including the Berliner Philharmonie, Bozar in Brussels, De Doelen in Rotterdam, Bimhuis in Amsterdam, and the ROMA Festival in Prague. She has also collaborated with numerous leading musicians and ensembles, including the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and the BVR Flamenco Big Band.

Vanaf september 2026 strijkt de Gitaarsalon neer in het Batavierhuis met een maandelijkse concertserie, helemaal in het teken van de gitaar. Al meer dan 25 jaar is de Gitaarsalon een Nederlands begrip, met een gigantisch Gitaarfestival in het Zuiderzeemuseum en twee concertseries in Enkhuizen.
Er is elke laatste zondag van de maand (wijzigingen voorbehouden) in de middag een prachtig gitaarconcert te bewonderen in het Batavierhuis. Nieuwsgierig naar wat de gitaar allemaal te bieden heeft, en wie de nieuwe beloftes zijn in de gitaarwereld van Nederland? Kom dan eens luisteren en kijken.

Irene Álvarez is een flamencodanseres die traditie en vernieuwing op een unieke manier met elkaar verbindt. Vanuit een diep respect voor de flamencotraditie onderzoekt zij de dialoog tussen de cante en andere muzikale en artistieke disciplines, zonder haar wortels uit het oog te verliezen. Ze begon haar opleiding op negenjarige leeftijd bij de legendarische Matilde Coral en aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium voor Muziek en Dans van Sevilla, waar zij in 1993 haar diploma behaalde. Sinds 2002 bouwde Irene een internationale carrière uit. Na haar vestiging in België trad zij op in vooraanstaande theaters en festivals in heel Europa, waaronder de Berliner Philharmonie, Bozar Brussel, De Doelen Rotterdam, Bimhuis Amsterdam en het ROMA Festival in Praag. Daarnaast werkte zij samen met tal van toonaangevende muzikanten en gezelschappen, waaronder het Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest en de BVR Flamenco Big Band.
