Nicolò Bottasso

Avoiding stylistic conventions and genre classifications, Nicolò Bottasso is a curious and versatile musician.  Born in Cuneo (Italy) in 1994, he studied and graduated in violin and trumpet at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Turin. He first visited Rotterdam for an Erasmus exchange at Codarts to study jazz trumpet and ottoman music. Parallel to his academic studies, he explored popular traditions starting from his homeland and expanding to different European areas.

In his artistic research he likes to get captivated by the different ways of communicating through sounds To do so, he looks either into composed music, free improvisation, crossover disciplines and the use of new technologies.

His active projects are the Duo Bottasso, Postcards from Italy, Quartetto Loco, Il Cielo di Pietra, as well as side projects and collaborations. Among the main albums: “Crescendo” and “Biserta e altre Storie” with Duo Bottasso, “Il Canzoniere di Pasolini” and “Sa Limba” with LinguaMadre.
