Tobias Gjedrem Furholt was born in Stavanger, Norway (2001). He started playing percussion and piano at age 10. Enjoying a wide range of genres, he decided to pursue a career in classical music. He took his Bachelor of Music at the HMDK Stuttgart with Prof. Marta Klimasara and Prof. Jürgen Spitschka. At the same time, he studied conducting with Prof. Bjarte Engeset of the University in Stavanger. He is currently doing his Master of Music at HMDK Stuttgart beside taking part in the Academy of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tobias has played with a variety of different orchestras including Ensemble Modern, Oslo Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony, Trondheim Symphony, Staatsorchester Stuttgart and Gaechinger Kantorei. As a conductor, he has conducted concerts with Iceland Symphony Orchestra and Stavanger Brass Band. He has also assisted as a conductor with Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps, and has done several masterclasses with professional orchestras. Tobias also enjoys playing drums and percussion in jazz and pop bands.
