Mario Asensio Hernández is a Spanish musician born in Salamanca who studied double bass at Musikene, Higher School of Music of the Basque Country, with teachers Pierre-Emmanuel de Maistre and Julio Pastor, graduating in 2023.
Based in the Netherlands for a year, she is currently completing her master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with teachers Olivier Thiery, Naomi Shaham and Ying Lai Green.
Furthermore, he has received master classes from renowned players such as Leo Genet, Rick Stotijn, Edicson Ruiz, Wies de Boevé or Rodrigo Moro Martín.
Mario is a member of various national and international youth orchestras, such as the National Youth Orchestra of Spain and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, and he has also developed his professional activity collaborating with several professional orchestras mainly in Spain, such as the Orchestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Bilbao Orchestra Sinfonikoa.
During this season 2024/25 he will be joining the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra as double bass academist.
