A concert full of improvised music, in which a wide variety of styles within the broad world of jazz is heared.
Tonight’s concert will present a repertoire made up of original compositions by each of the quintet’s musicians. From mainstream jazz with jazz standard arrangements to Piero’s compositions, with a more modern sound, to jazz with African influences as in Ildo Nandja’s compositions, to Andrea’s songs with an ECM sound, the Lyrical compositions of Loek, up to those of Andrea Carta who find inspiration in Duke Ellington.
Our improvised music brings to light a creative and extemporaneous dialogue which feeds our uniquely human curiosity for the necessity of the diverse upon which our musical poetry is founded. The roots of this live exploration are grown from the reflections of our own lives, which in themselves derive frequently from musical inspiration because music is alive and, above all, is life. Music creates a map for our lives; a map for “utopia”. More than anything for us musicians, in this historic moment, every concert is a victory; every owner of a venue a “deranged visionary”. Do not let these occasions to participate in a concert escape you. Do not forget what it is like to be with others while sharing a moment, being nearby, and experiencing the energy around you. Let us not forget how to live. Music is a journey that should be experienced together with other people, especially improvised music. Patrick Scheyder writes that “composed music tells the story of a journey, that while very important, was concluded before we could know it. Instead, improvised music, in itself, is a journey, in which, with all probability, one will make more smaller rather than larger discoveries, or even nothing at all, but, whatever we find will assume an interest or a value […] It is a journey that is even more exciting because we do not know, or perhaps we do not care to know, where we are going.”
Een concert vol improvisatie, waarin een grote diversiteit aan stijlen binnen de wereld van Jazz samenkomen. Deze avond zullen er stukken gespeeld worden van ieder bandlid, waardoor er een repertoire ontstaat van traditionele jazz, de modernere sound van Piero’s composities, een mix van jazz en Afrikaanse invloeden in Ildo’s composities, Andrea’s composities die geinspireerd door de ECM sound, Loek’s Lyrische compositiers, en de stukken van Andrea Carta die geinspireerd zijn door Duke Ellington.
