Yiorgos Bereris

Yiorgos Bereris is a Greek pianist and composer based in Rotterdam. His music weaves together jazz and the folk traditions of Greece and the Balkans, shaped through years of collaboration with musicians across Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.

He has released two albums: Laros (2023) and Sigá y Silente (2024, with Lucas Zegrí), both of which reflect his artistic identity through folk-rooted melodies and open, exploratory soundscapes.

As the leader of the Yiorgos Bereris Trio, he has performed at major festivals such as the Athens Jazz Festival (GR) and the Nišville Jazz Festival (SRB). Beyond his trio work, he has appeared widely across Europe and the U.S., performing at venues and festivals including De Doelen (NL), the Greek National Opera (GR) , Podium Mozaiek (NL), the Vortex (UK), Jamboree (SP), JazzX (RO), the Boston Conservatory Theater (USA) , and the Grachtenfestival (NL).

Yiorgos also works extensively with contemporary circus companies in Europe. He has composed and produced music for productions by La Campistany and Harvey Cobb, premiered at Festival Circolo (Tilburg), Cirque Mania (Korzo Theater), and Theater op de Markt (Belgium). He has also collaborated with the French company Galapiat Cirque.

Born and raised in Athens, he studied jazz piano at the Ionian University with George Kontrafouris before completing his Master’s degree at Codarts University of the Arts (2022). Along his path, he has collaborated with musicians such as Kudsi Erguner, Kyriakos Sfetsas, Harris Lambrakis, Alba Careta, and Tereza Catarov.
